Fairfax Digital is the online and mobile arm of Fairfax and operates commercial web sites for news and information (including smh.com.au, theage.com.au, brisbanetimes.com.au, WAToday and thevine.com.au) as well as transaction sites (including RSVP.com.au, stayz.com.au and trademe.co.nz).

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Java or .NET Developer to broaden your career and work within a team environment to deliver new projects through the SDLC. This role will suit candidates with strong analysis and design skills who have a strong desire to work on demanding technology projects with continued business engagement.

As a Senior Developer you will:

* Liaise with business representatives and analysts to define requirements. * Provide high level estimates, creation of high level functional and design documents. * Develop and code appropriate software solutions meeting architectural standards and best practices. * Provide on-going support to existing applications trouble shooting and resolving production issues. * Provide input and direction to improve processes within the development function.

Ideal candidates will need to demonstrate:

* Proven web applications development background, 5 years + * Excellent programming capabilities across XML, Web Services/Rest, SQL Server, C#.NET OR Java * Excellent analytical skills and the ability to grasp and understand business concepts. * Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with business representatives.

The successful candidate will have a thorough approach to work with a high attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communications skills; you will be analytical with solid troubleshooting skills and a “can do” team player attitude. You will have the ability to communicate technical issues with non-technical personnel.
